Marriage Ceremony Spanish/English

The Spanish/English Ceremony below mirrors that of the English Marriage Ceremony.  Some couples choose to use only some parts in Spanish while other want the entire ceremony in Spanish.  This is presented for your consideration in planning your ceremony.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Fr Jim.

Hermanos, estamos reunidos aquí hoy para presenciar el matrimonio de N. y N.. Llamemos a Dios para estar con nosotros hoy, al celebrar esta unión de dos en uno.   En el nombre del Padre, del Hijo + y del Espíritu Santo.

Realmente no importa dónde usted se casa, es la pareja que es importante. Tenemos dos personas antes que nosotros, que se aman y que todos ustedes vinieron porque usted los ama. San Juan nos dice que donde encontramos amante nos encontraremos con Dios. Así que tomemos un momento para invocar a Dios en la oración.

Opening Prayer A

Opening Prayer B

LITURGY OF THE WORD

Usually the couple selects three readings, one each: an Old Testament (Spanish) (Old Testament  in English) reading, a New Testament (Spanish) reading (New Testament in English) reading, and a Gospel (Spanish) (Gospel in English) reading. Family and friends may be selected to proclaim the readings, excluding the Gospel which is usually proclaimed by the priest or deacon.

RITE OF MARRIAGE

Consent A

O. Han venido aquí hermanos, para que el Señor, ante el ministro de la Iglesia y ante esta comunidad cristiana, consagre con su sello el amor que ustedes se tienen.

My dear friends, you have come together in this church, this assembly of your family and friends, so that the Lord may seal and strengthen your love in the presence of the Church's minister and this community of your family and friends.

Este amor Christo lo benedice abundantemente, y con un nuevo sacramento, a ustedes, a quienes por el Bautismo ya ha santificado, los va a enriquecer y a dar fuerza para que se guarden siempre mutua fidelidad y puedan cumplir las demás obligaciones del matrimonio. Y así, en su presencia les pido que expresen sus intenciones.

Christ abundantly blesses this love. He has already consecrated you in baptism and now enriches and strengthens you by a special sacrament so that you may assume the duties of marriage in mutual and lasting fidelity. And so, in the presence of the church here present, I ask you to state your intentions.

VOTOS PERSONALES

O. My dear friends, let us turn to the Lord and pray that he will bless with his grace this woman N. now married in Christ to this man N. and that he will unite in love the couple he has joined in this holy bond.

Father, by your plan man and woman are united, and married life has been established as the one blessing that was not forfeited by original sin or washed away in the flood.

Look with love upon this woman, your daughter, now joined to her husband in marriage. She asks your blessing. Give her the grace of love and peace. May she always follow the example of the holy women whose praises are sung in the scriptures.

May her husband put his trust in her and recognize that she is his equal and the heir with him to the life of grace. May he always honor her and love her as Christ loves his bride, the Church.

Father, keep them always true to your commandments. Keep them faithful in marriage and let them be living examples of Christian life. Give them the strength which comes from the gospel so that they may be witnesses of Christ to others. (Bless them with children and help them be good parents. May they live to see their children's children.) And, after a happy old age, grant them fullness of life with the saints in the kingdom of heaven. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

O.  Oremos al Señor por N. y N. que vienen aquí en el comienzo de su vida matrimonial, para que estén siempre muy unidas en el amor por los demás.

O.  Dios el Padre Eterno te guarde enamorados el uno del otro, para que la paz de Cristo se quede con usted y estar siempre en su casa.

O.  Mayo (tus hijos te bendicen,) a tus amigos que te consuelan y todas las personas viven en paz contigo.

P.  Amén.

O.  Que siempre dar testimonio del amor de Dios en este mundo para que a los afligidos y los necesitados encontrarán en ustedes generosos amigos, y darle la bienvenida en el gozo del cielo.

O.  Y que Dios Todopoderoso los bendiga a todos y cada uno de nosotros, el Padre, + y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo.

O. God the eternal Father keep you in love with each other, so that the peace of Christ may stay with you and be always in your home.
