LITURGY OF THE WORD
Usually the couple selects five readings, one each: an "Old Testament reading, a Responsorial Psalm, a New Testament reading, an Alleluia verse and a Gospel reading. If there is a singer, the Responsorial Psalm and Alleluia verse may be sung. En verdad es jusco y necesario, es nuestro deber y salvación, darte gracias siempre y en todo lugar, Señor, Padre Santo, Dios todopoderoso y eterno, porque dignificaste tánto a los ser humanos, creados por bondad tuya, que en la unión del hombre y la mujer has dejado la imagen verdadera de tu amor.

Father, all powerful and ever-living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks. You created human beings in love to share your divine life. We see their high destiny in the love of a husband and wife, which bears the imprint of your own divine love.
Love is each person's origin. Love is each person's constant calling. Love is each person's fulfillment.
The love of man and woman is made holy in the sacrament of marriage, and becomes the mirror of your everlasting love.

**Father, by your plan man and woman are united, and married life has been established as the one blessing that was not forfeited by original sin or washed away in the flood.

Mira con bondad a esta hija tuya que, unida en matrimonio, quiere que tu bendición la acompañe. Concédele el don del amor y de la paz y que siga siempre el ejemplo de las santas mujeres, cuya alabanza proclama la Escritura. Que confíe en ella el corazón de su esposo y que, reconociéndola éste como compañera de igual dignidad y coheredera de la vida de la gracia, Ia respete debidamente y la ame siempre con el amor con que Cristo amó a su Iglesia.

Look with love upon this woman, your daughter, now joined to her husband in marriage. She asks your blessing. Give her the grace of love and peace. May she always follow the example of the holy women whose praises are sung in the scriptures.May her husband put his trust in her and recognize that she is his equal and the heir with him to the life of grace. May he always honor her and love her as Christ loves his bride, the Church.

Father, keep them always true to your commandments. Keep them faithful in marriage and let them be living examples of Christian life. Give them the strength which comes from the gospel so that they may be witnesses of Christ to others. (Bless them with children and help them be good parents. **Father, to reveal the plan of your love, you made the union of husband and wife an image of the covenant between you and your people. In the fulfillment of this sacrament, the marriage of Christian man and woman is a sign of the marriage between Christ and the Church. Father, stretch out your hand, and bless N. and N.
